Résumé
Sortir de la lecture de la Sécurité sociale en termes de pouvoir d’achat (gestion des « risques sociaux » par réduction des inégalités, accès universel à une consommation, maintien du revenu) pour la lire en termes d’émancipation du statut du travailleur (accès à la responsabilité de fonctions collectives, dépassement de la logique d’entreprise, libération de la dette et du marché du travail) est indispensable pour prendre la mesure des conquis salariaux initiés en 1946 par la création du régime général (1), comprendre l’impuissance syndicale devant la contre-révolution dont ils sont l’objet (2) et proposer des pistes pour leur actualisation (3).

Abstract
To move beyond interpreting Social Security solely in terms of purchasing power (the management of “social risks” through the reduction of inequalities, universal access to consumption, and income maintenance) and instead understand it in terms of the emancipation of workers’ status (access to responsibility in collective functions, transcendence of enterprise-based logic, and liberation from debt and the labor market) is essential for appreciating the scope of the gains won by wage earners through the creation of the General Social Security Scheme in 1946 (1), understanding the trade unions’ powerlessness in the face of the counter-revolution directed against those gains (2), and proposing avenues for their renewal and modernization (3).
